Rose Garden Tea Room at the Huntington Library – Foretaste of spring

 

It was a day filled with moving clouds and occasional showers. We had so much fun the weekend before enjoying Parisian desserts and teas that we wanted to experience something similar again. When I moved to the States, the Huntington Library was among the first places on my list to visit and I never regret it. The Huntington is filled with majestic gardens, libraries with British and American literature and European art exhibitions. It is a place of serenity and wisdom for the intellect in the middle of a noisy city. The highlight of our day was our brunch at the Rose Garden Tea Room. Located in the rose garden and surrounded by roses, the tea room is created to impress and revive English traditions of an afternoon tea. Classical music playing in the background and the friendly service from the staff made us feel very welcome. After picking out our tea from the Art of tea selections we were excited to see and taste some traditional finger sandwiches. Everything looked very beautiful and elegant. Some of our favorites were the smoked salmon and caviar, Persian cucumber and mushroom, arugula, tomato sandwiches followed by petite desserts like rose cookies and red velvet cupcakes. Everything was perfect and my husband and I were having a great time filled with laughter that I will treasure forever. We also noticed that the service we were getting slightly changed from the one we were familiar with. The Rose Garden Tea Room used to offer a buffet style eating loaded with fresh fruits and crafted cheeses, but personally I prefer the contemporary and redesigned tea room that preserves the English traditions of afternoon tea. This setting fits perfectly the English identity of the Huntington gardens and libraries. I celebrated this special occasion with a pink dress with lace details from Lipsy.
